Have you heard the saying that less is more? This sentiment shines brightly for a shop called Minimal. As the name suggests, the products found here do have a minimalistic flair to them, but their is also more to them than that meets the eye. What do I mean by that? Come with me to this fabulous store and you will then understand what I am trying to convey about them.

The shop is comprised of different sections, but I was immediately attracted to the landscaping and exterior first.

My first impression when I initially arrived at Minimal, was that I was transported to France during the 1920s. Benches and tables and chairs provide a comfortable place to enjoy the beautiful trees and well-maintained bushes. You can even get a frozen treat to-go as you stroll around this space! The walls that house the different parts of this shop are fashioned in a loose Rocco style. For someone with a passion for art history, this spot has truly won my heart!

With regard to the merchandise that is sold at Minimal, you will find such items as skyboxes, scenes, backdrops and home furnishings. The theme for the products run the gambit of futuristic to old world flair, and everything in-between. Of course, everything does have a minimalistic bent to it. Seeing a large variety of styles displayed in the products here, I was curious where the inspiration for the merchandise came from.

Lucky for me as I was taking a look at all of the products, the owner of Minimal, Jorge Fernández (ors.quan) just so happened to be nearby! He was kind enough to indulge me in some conversation and answer some questions for me!

Mr. Fernández explained to me that he gets ideas for the merchandise that he sells from Instagram, Pinterest and a magazine called Elle Decor World of Interiors. I learned that Mr. Fernández is inspired to create items from multiple genres, as these platforms often feature items from many different sources. Another tidbit that he shared with me, was that he actually sketches out the products that he plans to make on paper before creating them in a 3D program. This was so refreshing to hear that an “old fashioned” method is still being used when making something.

If you are in the market for anything relating to photography and/or for the home, then I highly suggest checking out Minimal. And even if you aren’t, just come enjoy the lovely ambiance that this store has to offer.
