PICK OF THE DAY – NOVEMBER 23, 2022 – ANUSKA LOON

There’s more than meets the eye in this photo by Anuska Loon from her series titled “Grandma’s Place”. Autumn is in full swing, turning leaves a firey orange and filling the sky with clouds. Below is a large greenhouse with clear evidence that it’s seen many years of loving use. It sits on the bank of a creek that has brought a couple of little otters up to the boardwalk as a mama squirrel and her baby look on. If you peer a little closer, you can see the greenhouse has been turned into a cozy gathering place featuring a full kitchen, a wood-burning stove, and a family-sized dining area. Taking in the scene, we can imagine spending leisurely afternoons gathered around bowls of butternut squash soup, sharing old stories. Not a care in the world.
